Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, generating strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Homeowners reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing power throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units deployed to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 households in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both regions.

Health officials alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
